I have something exciting to announce! After 5 years of organizing adventure and impact sailing trips we now go bigger and further than ever. If not now, then when? And you can join! Sail the Atlantic and Caribbean with me and a bunch of selected likeminded ocean nomads, this upcoming winter.

Resume and full sails ahead across the Atlantic again. And you can join!

Who wants to join me, and a beautiful team of Ocean Nomads, on the ocean or Caribbean sea?

7 Years ago I sailed the first time across the Atlantic as crew. I had no idea about anything sailing. I learned how (and how not) to ‘hitchhike' on sailboats. Nevertheless, I LOVED it all.

6 Years ago I set up this group to support better in helping you getting out there on the ocean. Thank you for being here!

5 Years ago I published some tips which turned into book Ocean NomadThe initial 20 pager turned into 400 pages of stories and advice on happy, safe, and meaningful sailing the Atlantic

4 years ago I got my Captains License so I could take you sailing and create the adventure and eco vibe on board. And to gain a bit more confidence in my sailing and captain skills. Thank you all who joined on one of the sailing trips!

All the above while crewing +30.000 NM, 4 Atlantic ocean crossings, on +50 different sailboats

3 years ago I took care of a boat for a season to experience liveaboard life as captain, take people sailing, and learning even more how important community and having a value-sharing support network is. And time, and money, and skills, and attitude, and good crew (not necessarily sailing experience).

2 years ago I, together with other beautiful ocean souls, launched the Ocean Nomad membership network to be able to focus and do better on facilitating personalized support, resources, and connections. Your contribution of 3 coconuts / month allows us to create much more value. Social Media went to the background a bit. It got too big, unpersonal, and commercial.

1 year ago I organized the first offshore sailing event on the beautiful classic SV Twister. Especially sailing offshore requires our deepest respect for the ocean and serious preparation for a happy, safe and meaningful experience. It went so well, so safe, happy, and energetic because of the beautiful crew mix on board.

And this year!!! We take it one step further. With Ocean Nomads in collaboration with Twister sailing we organize a sailing expedition across the Atlantic Ocean (And Caribbean Sea!) and back across the Ocean! I'll join some of the legs and you can join too!

📣With Ocean Nomads we are NOW selecting an epic crew team!

Sail the Atlantic and Caribbean with me and a bunch of selected likeminded ocean nomads, this upcoming winter. With Expedition ON, we are sailing the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea on a classic 36 meter schooner originally built in 1902. In 13 legs we travel +10.000 nautical miles, into and out of 13 countries, powered by wind and the energy of like minded ocean nomads on board. A hands-on ocean adventure discovering ways to live and travel more simple, wild, and pure. And sailing into new countries is just magical.

My wish for you to see for yourself how beautiful the ocean are! And hopefully ignite the superpower within you to take steps into a more conscious and perhaps nomadic life in or near or for the sea, and give back to the ocean, our playground, our home, our life. The pursuit of a healthy ocean and lifestyle are one and the same. If you ever dreamed about sailing the Atlantic ocean as crew, visiting remote tropical islands or a classic sailing adventure like nothing else, this could be it! After sailing the ocean a few times in a smaller boat and with just a few people and little movement, I’m now super excited to go with a group of people on a bit of a larger vessel. And not just a vessel. She’s + 100 years. Be fast, for some legs we already have more applications than spots, including the Atlantic  We aim to have the crew team complete as soon as possible to we can put serious effort in the preperation and making a difference part, together!

This trip is perfect if you don't want to spent months: searching for a happy, safe and meaningful ride, a value sharing crew team (we recrewed, select, interview), assessing safety, and getting experience. It does cost money to be able to make this happen.

Why I am so stoked to organize this Atlantic Ocean adventure

When I started looking into ocean travel by sail, seven years ago now, I had no idea about sailing and I didn’t have connections in sailing either. I struggled to find out how to get into travelling by sail, safely, with little budget and experience, and as I went on I struggled finding ‘my kind’ of people, those purpose-driven wild souls looking for adventure and making a positive impact.

For a few years I lived more at sea than land, ‘crewing/hitchhiking’ on about 50 different boats. Good, bad, and priceless experiences. You can read more blogs about ‘travelling by sail' here, or check out my book Ocean Nomad for stories and tips on sailing across the Atlantic as crew.  If I learned one thing, it’s the people who make the experience, happy, safe, and meaningful!

We'll be going on this ship! SV Twister

Offshore sailing requires deep respect for the ocean, and careful preparation and crew and boat selection. As I couldn’t find my tribe and value-matching (Like vegetarian, purpose-driven, adventure minded, safe, male/female balanced) vessels, I created it, into what’s now the Ocean Nomads network, a community of (aspiring) adventure and impact driven sailing nomads. With Ocean Nomads we connect ocean people, vessels, projects, and environmental action to facilitate sailboat travel, adventure, impact, and a nomadic and ocean-conscious way of life. There are currently +70 vessels and hundreds of nomads in the network teaming up for ocean adventure and supporting each other along the way.  You can join as member for 3 coconuts / month to tap into all the resources and connections. It's really cool to see how many connections and adventurers have come out of it so far. But what is definitely most exciting and energizing is taking people into the big blue! So here we go :)

“The future is in the hands of those who explore… and from all the beauty they discover while crossing perpetually receding frontiers, they develop for nature and for humankind an infinite love.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau

Ambitious adventure sailing crew wanted!

Discover what it feels like to wake up on the ocean, breathe the ocean air, have the wind in your hair, navigate by the stars, live simple and resourceful, and be eye to eye with dolphins. Day in, day out… The most fast track ocean nomads lifestyle acceleration is of course joining an ocean adventure experience itself, where you spent time with other ocean adventurers with similar dreams and missions of creating a more conscious and nomadic lifestyle on the sea.

After having organized about 15 different sailing trips in different places in the world, and the state of the world allows us again to ‘do our thing', it's time to go big! This year we will be sailing across the Atlantic ocean! On a classic vessel of more than 100 years old. It cannot get more resourceful and sustainable. After a succesful collaboration with the classic SV Twister last autumn (we only broke 2 plates), we go all in!

Last year I sailed with Dad for the first time!

The Ocean Nomads trips connect people to each other and to the ocean. Nothing brings people together like actually bringing people together. And nothing triggers more than actual experience. We add nature and adventure into the mix, and we have a recipe for creating a big dose of positive energy and accelerating change for a common good. We provide ocean adventure and encourage low-impact travel by sail.

By uniting you, your experiences, connections and stories, at sea, we can reach way further, help more, do more, and be more.  We are at the forefront of what’s happening. And we can do a lot to make a positive impact. We live up to the Ocean Nomads’ slow sailing philosophy. We strive to have an onboard environment that inspires adventure and play, with a strong emphasis on hands-on action, health, simplicity, local, teamwork, skill sharing, and environmental consciousness.

To reach for the stars, we must surround ourselves with likeminded entrepreneurial salty souls, share knowledge, and inspire and cheerleader each other. So much more is possible if we join forces on our journeys. The best, going on a journey together! I wish for you to see for yourself how beautiful the ocean are!

And hopefully ignite the superpower within you to take steps into a conscious nomadic life in or near the sea, and give back to the ocean, our playground, our home, our life. The pursuit of a healthy ocean and lifestyle are one and the same.

We are now re-crew-ting for the Atlantic sailing and Caribbean sailing voyages. We aim to have the team complete as soon as possible to leave most room for impact preparation, key for a happy, safe, and meaningful ride. Learn more and apply now.
