Where this comes from

Almost seven years ago I bought my first car. It was also my first house. I don't drive much: after all these years the van still has only 150,000 kilometres on the clock. Since then the van has been basecamp for everything on this site: trails, harbours, surf spots and Moroccan pistes, all of it with Wingo. What works and what breaks, tested daily.

The van essentials

Almost seven years in, these carry the vanlife: the Kildwick compost toilet, the Maunawai water filter, a Victron inverter, the Omnia oven and Starlink for working from anywhere. The rest lives on the vanlife shelf of my shop. And for a night on private land instead of a packed campsite: Campspace.
