From the lake below Collado de Tebarrey (2765m.) to somewhere after Panticosa
Kms hiked: 275 / 840
Weather: Perfect! +/- 20 degrees. Cold at night!
Total ascent: 715 (12) + 955 (13)
Total descent: 1300 (12) + 30 (13)
😋Wild food: Blackberries, raspberries & blue berries.
💫Highlights: Conquering the tough bits
🤪Challenges: The rocks
Gear favourite: Telescope hiking poles. Without them this would have been a disaster.
Highest point: 2765 m
Spirit: highThe guidebook says this is the hardest part of the GR11. After hiking it now, I agree! So far at least.
I’m happy I started the tough bit fresh in the morning. Out of the sun. The forecast is with me. This would have been a different story in rain or clouds or snow.Part of the reason I started the trail in August is because then most of the snow has been melted, mostly in this bit. Otherwise, you have to bring mountaineering gear, and it’s a next-level challenge.I’m happy I didn’t bring Wingo for this part and to have trailangels around 🐕. The almost vertical climb would have been quite a challenge, but mostly all those 10000 rocks and boulders that came afterwards. It’s a miracle I got through all this without a single injury. It was one big obstacle run.
Superhappy with having good telescope hikingpoles. I found them on Wallapop (the Spanish second hand market place).
And if this was the hardest bit, bring it one next stages! 💫So far one the most riskiest thing I found, is coming across other hikers and looking them in the eyes to say hello! It makes you not watch your feet and it’s easy to misstep. It’s also one of the most fun bits :) Every day I meet a couple of other GR11 hikers. Few of them do the whole route. And few of them are females. Hiking across the Pyrenees on the GR11 in Spain. I’m half way! 🏕️💃⛰️42.6066° N, 0.5231° EThey say Benasque is half way. Not exactly in kilometers but in time. I’m loving every moment of this long distance hiking. The good, the bad, the struggles, the views, the wildlife, the treasures, the encounters, and the sunshine after rain. The company but also the solitude of which now comes more 🧘‍♀️I feel so grateful that I can do this trail, that my legs and feet have brought me to where I am now and that I still have many kilometers left to just be in nature carrying all I need on my back. 🎒🏕️💅🏻😜Thank you all trail angels supporting me along the way. Massive thanks to my parents ❤️ who were there for Wingo 🐕 and me with food, love & shelter. He now goes with them. It’s safer. There are so many unknowns and variables. I can’t foresee his safety and well-being. But for him it was still the longest dog walk ever ❤️🐕🙃🥳After just having had a couple of fun days of trail living, loving and laughing with Bianca & Lesley, long time friends 💃💃💃, I now really continue solo.The backpack is ready and heavy with food for days. The sleeping bag and shoes almost dry again after some days with lots of rain and a day in a hotel 🥳🛀 The next stages there’s no town or shop. And probably no phone signal either. The guidebook says it’ll be brutal. The weather forecast says around freezing point at night. Vamos a ver! 🙊Stage updates will come eventually. Another wild year around the sun 🕺🏼Happy birthday to my handsome adventure man, Jonte! @johnny__mango See here a few memorable moments living the best life, outside 🌌🙃💫I’m so proud of you and how you continuously step into the unknown, and not settling for anything less than a life filled with outdoor action and trying new things and creating memorable moments, from campfire parties to climbing coconut trees, sleeping in wild random places, sailing oceans, or just another crazy long-distance hike, inspiring many others and me along the way.💫And that’s one big reason why we’re doing life together. We keep each other sharp on staying wild and curious to the world. I got him into sailing ⛵️💙 And thanks to him I got into thru-hiking! 🏕️ He taught me to be next level, wilder and self-sufficient. He’s been the best thru-hike mentor after having hiked many long- distance trails like the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). Our first date was a 7-day hike 😁🙊 And he hiked 500 kilometres in 2 weeks across the Pyrenees, just to catch up on me. I can’t think of a wilder romantic gesture.And we met randomly while living both in our vans. On the beach ofcourse 🏝️ And we still have our own vans as our housys🚌🚐🤓Above all, he’s just the sweetest, kindest and caring to me, Wingi and the world around. What to learn from nature? 🌱
Day and night are now the same length, with the days starting getting longer. A beautiful reminder that it’s all about the balance ✨As the natural world starts to wake up from winter, it is a great time to reflect, reset, cleanse, detox and set the intentions for the season ahead.And ofcourse, to go outside and wonder and wander in the wild 🐝 ⛰️🌼For me personally, I’m giving the van a serious good cleanse and freshness 💃 Every single cm2 gets the water and vinegar spray, I’m changing the colours, photos, get rid of the mountains of sand Wingo brings in, and things I haven’t touch in a year, turn the bathroom into a bathroom again, and small things like removing the datepits from the dashboard, wash the crispy towel and maybe even the bed sheets 😜 Its my tiny house on wheels beach home to treasure 🙏Im cleansing my body and mind spending some time in solitude with lots of herbal tea and ofcourse, parked somewhere in nature.I’m also super excited to get more tips & tales out to you about slow adventure travel lifestyles in the wild, from vanlife, to thruhiking and sailinglife and how to go about it healthy and eco style. 3 ways of living that expand your worldview bigtime and just make you feel so alive 💫📽️📍from the monkey forest in Morocco 🙃How do you embrace the news season of spring? To live outside is everything ✨I lost count how many campfire tajine nights we’ve had this winter in Morocco 🥰 with old friend, new friends and the @oceannomads.community
I treasure all of them 🙏Campfire tajine: It’s simple, cosy, yummy, healthy and practical (no dishes 😜) Except the tajine, but Wingo 🐕 takes care of that 😁My favourite tajine recipe:
- Sweet potato, carrots, courgette (&whatever veggies need to be eaten)
- Add some olives, dates 🤤 and olive oil
- Special Suzy spicemix (E.g cumin / fennel / cinnamon sticks / bayleaf / pipali /corinader seeds and a spicy pepper)
- Sprinkle some salt & seaweed
A little bit of water (purified with the natural @maunawai filters)
+ Love ❤️
And some fresh frisbee sandwiches from the nearby baker 👩🏼‍🍳 to dip with 😋Chop, mix, put it on the hot colesAdd the “Atay Berred Nana” aka pot of mint tea 🫖& get the campfire stories started while you wait until it’s ready ✨Do you cook on the fire sometimes? It’s the mindset that matters 💫I’m parked right on a palmtree beach! 🌴🚌 In Europe!Also I don’t dare to touch the water, industry on the horizon, there’s a non stop sound of shipping container port things, funky fumes in the air that reduce the average life span if you live here by probably 10 years, trash piles on the parking, and food leftovers which my dog now, puked, and ate again, as well as dodgy characters sniffling around.It’s almost never perfect and that’s ok! There’s so much peace of mind in just accepting some things and appreciating what IS.For example, Morocco is on the horizon and that’s pretty damn cool! Especially after having spent 9 months there with the van the past 15 months ☀️ I would have liked to stay longer. But the visa expired and extending wasn’t the better option this time. The ferry got cancelled but its amazing there was another one later in the day. And it is just everything that we’re healthy and a lot of memorable Morocco moments richer (unless we park here too long LOL 😝🏭🏗️)So now I’m having a culture shock being back in a wayyy more busy, noisy and regulated environment than my usual lately. Hello Spain 👋☀️🥳 Which simply has other features to appreciate. Including cell service so expect some stories 🤓Have no expectation and full appreciation! ❤️ for your own happiness and the energy you spread into world ✨ No matter the situation it can always be better and always be worse. Life is too short to bother about the silly little non important things. And the day is just getting started 🐒
To wake up in random wild places in nature is everything. It’s a form of health and wealth. Add friends, waves, and a camel on the horizon and another memorable day with nature play added to the memorable moment mountain 🥰Five years of having this tiny home on wheels as my homebase 🙊Someone asked me the other day if I don’t long for getting back to my old way of living. I couldn’t think of what that actually was.I don’t have an old way of living as in having a house, job and be in one place for a long period of time, besides my childhood and student times I’ve been Suz footloose. I just realise writing this i am slow travelling half my life on earth now. 🙊 One adventure lifestyle 🎒turned into another ⛵️ and into another 🚌🏕️What I long for sometimes is a kitchen with space or a land with food to grow, tools and space for fixing, friends near, and just less variables and situations some days would be nice 🤪 Vanlife isn’t ruled by weather as much as sailing or hiking, but the happiness factor does largely depend on it. When it rains, it’s not so fun. Especially when there’s a leak😅
A more fixed kind of basecamp will come someday. With @oceannomads.community and/or for me. ⚓️ In Spain. Or Portugal. Or the tropics? I’m scouting now and then but haven’t found it yet. Prices are just wild too!For now travelling slow is for me still a simple, wild and free way to go, with al lot of amazing features and memorable moment creation🙏 and in close connection to nature 💚I remain very curious to the world 🗺️🧭💫I hope you do too! I can’t think of a wilder romantic gesture.And we met randomly while living both in our vans. On the beach ofcourse 🏝️ And we still have our own vans as our housys🚌🚐🤓Above all, he’s just the sweetest, kindest and caring to me, Wingi and the world around. What to learn from nature? 🌱
Day and night are now the same length, with the days starting getting longer. A beautiful reminder that it’s all about the balance ✨As the natural world starts to wake up from winter, it is a great time to reflect, reset, cleanse, detox and set the intentions for the season ahead.And ofcourse, to go outside and wonder and wander in the wild 🐝 ⛰️🌼For me personally, I’m giving the van a serious good cleanse and freshness 💃 Every single cm2 gets the water and vinegar spray, I’m changing the colours, photos, get rid of the mountains of sand Wingo brings in, and things I haven’t touch in a year, turn the bathroom into a bathroom again, and small things like removing the datepits from the dashboard, wash the crispy towel and maybe even the bed sheets 😜 Its my tiny house on wheels beach home to treasure 🙏Im cleansing my body and mind spending some time in solitude with lots of herbal tea and ofcourse, parked somewhere in nature.I’m also super excited to get more tips & tales out to you about slow adventure travel lifestyles in the wild, from vanlife, to thruhiking and sailinglife and how to go about it healthy and eco style. 3 ways of living that expand your worldview bigtime and just make you feel so alive 💫📽️📍from the monkey forest in Morocco 🙃How do you embrace the news season of spring? To live outside is everything ✨I lost count how many campfire tajine nights we’ve had this winter in Morocco 🥰 with old friend, new friends and the @oceannomads.community
I treasure all of them 🙏Campfire tajine: It’s simple, cosy, yummy, healthy and practical (no dishes 😜) Except the tajine, but Wingo 🐕 takes care of that 😁My favourite tajine recipe:
- Sweet potato, carrots, courgette (&whatever veggies need to be eaten)
- Add some olives, dates 🤤 and olive oil
- Special Suzy spicemix (E.g cumin / fennel / cinnamon sticks / bayleaf / pipali /corinader seeds and a spicy pepper)
- Sprinkle some salt & seaweed
A little bit of water (purified with the natural @maunawai filters)
+ Love ❤️
And some fresh frisbee sandwiches from the nearby baker 👩🏼‍🍳 to dip with 😋Chop, mix, put it on the hot colesAdd the “Atay Berred Nana” aka pot of mint tea 🫖& get the campfire stories started while you wait until it’s ready ✨Do you cook on the fire sometimes? It’s the mindset that matters 💫I’m parked right on a palmtree beach! 🌴🚌 In Europe!Also I don’t dare to touch the water, industry on the horizon, there’s a non stop sound of shipping container port things, funky fumes in the air that reduce the average life span if you live here by probably 10 years, trash piles on the parking, and food leftovers which my dog now, puked, and ate again, as well as dodgy characters sniffling around.It’s almost never perfect and that’s ok! There’s so much peace of mind in just accepting some things and appreciating what IS.For example, Morocco is on the horizon and that’s pretty damn cool! Especially after having spent 9 months there with the van the past 15 months ☀️ I would have liked to stay longer. But the visa expired and extending wasn’t the better option this time. The ferry got cancelled but its amazing there was another one later in the day. And it is just everything that we’re healthy and a lot of memorable Morocco moments richer (unless we park here too long LOL 😝🏭🏗️)So now I’m having a culture shock being back in a wayyy more busy, noisy and regulated environment than my usual lately. Hello Spain 👋☀️🥳 Which simply has other features to appreciate. Including cell service so expect some stories 🤓Have no expectation and full appreciation! ❤️ for your own happiness and the energy you spread into world ✨ No matter the situation it can always be better and always be worse. Life is too short to bother about the silly little non important things. And the day is just getting started 🐒
To wake up in random wild places in nature is everything. It’s a form of health and wealth. Add friends, waves, and a camel on the horizon and another memorable day with nature play added to the memorable moment mountain 🥰Five years of having this tiny home on wheels as my homebase 🙊Someone asked me the other day if I don’t long for getting back to my old way of living. I couldn’t think of what that actually was.I don’t have an old way of living as in having a house, job and be in one place for a long period of time, besides my childhood and student times I’ve been Suz footloose. I just realise writing this i am slow travelling half my life on earth now. 🙊 One adventure lifestyle 🎒turned into another ⛵️ and into another 🚌🏕️What I long for sometimes is a kitchen with space or a land with food to grow, tools and space for fixing, friends near, and just less variables and situations some days would be nice 🤪 Vanlife isn’t ruled by weather as much as sailing or hiking, but the happiness factor does largely depend on it. When it rains, it’s not so fun. Especially when there’s a leak😅
A more fixed kind of basecamp will come someday. With @oceannomads.community and/or for me. ⚓️ In Spain. Or Portugal. Or the tropics? I’m scouting now and then but haven’t found it yet. Prices are just wild too!For now travelling slow is for me still a simple, wild and free way to go, with al lot of amazing features and memorable moment creation🙏 and in close connection to nature 💚I remain very curious to the world 🗺️🧭💫I hope you do too!
