Finding the right place to host your community is not simple. Especially when the people you gather live nomadically across oceans, mountain trails, vans, boats, and in between, around the world. I've spent weeks exploring and testing before spending precious funds into a software solution.
Before using Mighty Networks, the Ocean Nomads connection building was scattered between Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups, DM,'s and a little bit of chaos. It made it hard to build a community with intention. It was hard to find answers, make personalized introduction, and members got lost. And my mind was scattered. Above all, nothing about those social media platforms felt aligned with the lifestyle I live and teach.
I wanted a calm harbour. A single online community hub where people could meet with purpose, get inspired, exchange ideas, connect with each other, and feel part of something. That journey led me to the Mighty Networks in 2019. After now five years of hosting a global membership with mightynetworks and an online course inside it, this Mighty Networks app review is shaped by lived experience from hosting the Ocean Nomads Community

Quick Summary
For almost six years now, Mighty Networks has been the most intentional and dependable home for the Ocean Nomads community. It keeps everything in one place: members, courses, events, and conversations, without the noise of social media. The platform is improving fast, integrates smoothly with Kit which saves tons of time. If you want a calm, purpose-driven space for your community, this review will help you decide if Mighty fits your vision.

What Mighty Networks Is
Mighty Networks is an all in one community platform that lets you host your community, run an online course, organise meetups, share resources, manage your brand voice, and bring your people together in one quiet, intentional space. It is not another Facebook group. It is like a digital campfire or basecamp for communities, local, global and online. For Ocean Nomads, this Mighty Networks is our online harbour where we share updates, meet future crew mates, adventure buddies, share knowledge, support, and gather long before and after we meet.
Mighty Networks is an all-in-one platform built for course creators, community builders, and creators who want to build a community without an ad or algorithm spoiling the experience.
Why I Moved Away From Facebook and WhatsApp
Before using Mighty, everything was scattered. WhatsApp could not hold long conversations and just gives way too many notifications. A Facebook group buried important posts and has too many commercial distractions on the side and what happens to our data there? It was chaos. I wanted a space where people could meet with intention, meet and introduce each other from different sailing trips that we organized, access a community easily, and feel a sense of belonging instead of overwhelm.
Mighty Networks allows members to connect without the noise of social media platforms. It gave us structure, clarity, and a sense of place. I also considered building an app from scratch. But the time, money and thought investment that would take wasn't appealing at the time. Mightynetworks ticked many of the boxes I was looking for.
How I Use Mighty Networks for Ocean Nomads
Using Mighty Networks to host our Adventure travel community has simplified everything for us. Our Mighty Network holds our membership, Crew Course, regional meetups, sustainability discussions, trip planning, memer connecting, and in depth stories and travel reports. It lets us create a community that feels like a living map of nomads around the world.
Here's a Mightynetworks example:

Since last year Mighty Networks added an integration with ConvertKit, which was a game-changer for our workflow. It allowed us to automate onboarding, send welcome sequences, and keep communication clean. For a nomadic life with shifting wifi, this matters a lot.
Because I live in my campervan or on boats, I mostly rely on the mighty networks app. It works beautifully on ios and android, allowing me to access the community anywhere and keep things running smoothly from the wild.
Mighty Networks Goes International in 2026
One of the most exciting updates is multilingual support in Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. This opens the door for global online communities and helps international entrepreneurs build a community around their brand across cultures.
My Favourite Mighty Networks Updates in 2025
While previously it sometimes took a while for features on the roadmap being implemented, and I even considered moving away, this year mightynetworks has been steaming ahead and introduced tons of new cool features. It's looks very cool and smooth and I'm back to being a big fan.
Here are some of the improvements that made a big change four our nomad community this year.
- Wayy cleaner space and collection structure
- A way better landing page builder and check out (no need to glue to external software anymore)
- Custom profile fields that helps us better connect our members based on interest
- A smoother network app experience
- Enhanced integrations including ConvertKit which is saving us tons of time
- Better online community features for conversations and meetups
- Some cool gamification features helping increase our member engagement
- The course space looks amazing, which in app video hosting (no need to link to Youtube)
- We can now send voice messages over the app (and have them auto transcribed)
- We can now create stand alone courses and sub groups disconnected from the overal network, a gamechanger for adding hiking and vanlife courses and resources to our nomad empire.
- The app simply looks way better with their new resource interfaces.
And I probably missed half of the updates as they are steamblasting ahead.

Quick Verdict
What I love
- It's peaceful and professional alternative to a Facebook or Whatsapp group
- A complete all in one community experience for community AND course
- Strong native mobile apps for ios AND android. It's looks very cool and smooth
- Smart connection features matching members
- I like how the courses look, have native video and that you can also use this feature for building a resource Library.
- No need for external checkout, landing pages or even a website.
- A quiet space away from social media platforms
- Lots of brandable options so it looks like your own app.
- I like the mightynetworks Integration with Convertkit It saves us tons of time doing community roundups via email.
What I don’t love
- The interface can feel busy at first and there are so many features
- Stripe only for payments (It's on the roadmap to change this)
- They changed from topics to spaces a few years ago, and we still struggle to reach that super simple user experience
- Sometimes the app can be slow
- They've been implemented so many new things. It's sometimes hard to keep up.
- To upgrade the pricing jump is very high.
Having that said, Mighty Networks is the best online community platform, I found for lifestyle communities, entrepreneurs, and creators who value authenticity in community building.
What it looks like? Spaces, Courses, Events, and Learning
Everything in a Mighty Network lives in Spaces. A Space can hold discussions, events, resource pages, regional hubs, or an online course. This structure makes it easier to build your community step by step.
The course builder is simple and super intuitive. It blends community and course creation beautifully. If you want to sell online courses inside a membership, this structure feels natural and connected. And it makes upselling to a course from community or vice versa very easy.

Mighty Pro
If you want a fully branded own mobile app, Mighty Pro lets you take the Mighty Networks experience into your own brand universe. It is ideal for large communities that want a custom presence. Perhaps at some point we reach that milestone but the basic functionalities on smaller plans are fine for most communities.
Mightynetworks Integrations
If you’re looking into integrations, Mighty works well with the tools I use most. The Mighty Networks ConvertKit integration has been a lifesaver. New members land directly in the right welcome sequence, which keeps everything flowing and updated. Also the member round up posts are very easy to do with the Mightynetworks and Kit integration. Before it took me tons of clicking and hustle to summarize community news which now takes one click of a button. To me it's worth the investment in Kit. You can Try the Kit Mighty Networks integration for Free.
The ThriveCart Mighty Networks integration connects purchases to courses or memberships via Zapier. It’s a fairly simple way to customize your own check out pages with more payment options that the native Mighty Networks system. To me it's not worth the gluing but also I'm not the best tech wizard.
Mightynetworks has lots more integration possibilities. You can find them here.
Mighty Networks Features and Pricing 2025
Mighty networks pricing includes a Community Plan, a Courses Plan, a Business Plan, and a Growth Plan. You can switch to another tier as your community grows. There is a free plan for testing basics and a 14 day free trial for exploring the platform fully. With the Ocean Nomads community, we are on a mighty networks deal (as a long term customer) with the Legacy plan, which reflects the Courses Plan.
Here's an overview with the best Mightynetworks deal currently available. These mightynetworks discount codes expire in January.

If you can afford it and it matches your needs, the course functionality in Mightynetworks is really good and the courses plan is worth the features. In my opinion, the next level is considerably higher prices for what you get.
The Growth Plan and Mighty Pro are out of my league and I can't give a verdict here if it's worth it. Mighty Pro gives you a native app and come to about 30.000$ pricing / year to the latest of my knowledge.
Who Mighty Networks Is Best For
- Creators, guides, and entrepreneurs
- Adventure and lifestyle communities
- Membership based communities
- Communities that meet in real life
- Online communities that thrive on discussion
- Course creators who want community and course side by side
- Brands that want to build community around their purpose
- Entrepreneurs who want to focus on the content and connecting, not the building, fixing and bugging.
If you want to build a community around your brand in a fairly easy and profi way, Mighty Networks provides a beautiful foundation.
Alternatives to Mighty Networks
If you want different features, here are alternatives I personally explored and tested and sometimes use.
Circle is another option for community building.
A minimalist community builder with a simple interface. A great alternative to Mighty Networks for creators wanting clean design. Mighty Networks stands out with their design, native cool features (like video)
ThriveCart
Perfect for creators who want to sell online courses without complex community features. It's initially a checkout tool that also has Paypal and you can glue it to Mightynetworks if you're tech savvy. It also has a course feature. What I love about Thrivecart is that you pay once lifetime and that's it! You can also integrate Mighty Networks with Thrivecart via Zapier. I've tried this and it works but since Mighty recently did a great job updating their check out pages, it's not worth the gluing and extra dollars.
Notion
Notion is evolving fast and a great business tool for so many user cases. Perfect for resource libraries and simple membership portals. Not ideal for community building. With a free plan you can go a long way
And there are ofcourse the free tools like Facebook Groups, Instagram, Telegram Groups and Whatsapp Groups. But none of them serve a course feature and they are run by tech giants, can be noisy and distract your members as these tools are mingled with the wild wild web.
At the end, it depends on your goals.
