Can you spot what I found here 😋?

Stay wild you all 🌱
•Ocean Adventure time 💙⛵️🌱• This is •Ocean Adventure time 💙⛵️🌱•
This is Lærke from the @cleanoceanproject And I at this weeks’ beach clean up in Fuerteventura! @laerke_heilmann is going to sail across the Atlantic soon! And not ‘just’ that. But on an old wooden catamaran from the 70s skippered by a badass captain lady @whereskiana Without all the electric and modern fluff. Salty, wild, rough, and with an ocean impact mission. On this 4-women ocean voyage they aim to highlight ocean challenges, collect data, document the journey, and educate and encourage ocean action along the way.

I believe our meet-up came at the perfect time. It’s Laerke’s first big ocean adventure and luckily I still had one copy of my book Ocean Nomad! The book I wished was out there when I started my first big sailing passage not really knowing what I was getting myself into. Preparation is key for a happy, safe and meaningful ride. She’s going next level right on! 💪💙⛵️
Ladies, I cheer you big time and will be following you closely.

Curious to a big meaningful ocean adventure ‘someday’? As Walt Disney says, “if it can be dreamt, it can be done.” but where to start?

Travelling an ocean on someone else’s sailing boat is not a straightforward endeavour. To be ready to expect the unexpected, information, investigation and preparation is essential. I receive lots of messages on this topic and I do what I can to help. Four Ocean Crossings, 30.000 Miles of boat hitchhiking, later skippering, and continuously failing, overcoming and learning, I figured out a few things.

Here’s what I have created for you to help to get you out there 💙 (links in bio):
📝I wrote a few blogs on Oceanpreneur.co
📘Read book Ocean Nomad - The Complete Atlantic Crewing Guide. Learn the bearings from what’s it all about, to finding a boat where when and how, to figuring out the safety situation, prepping, to contributing to a healthier ocean

•Freedive fun🐬🧜‍♀️🧜🏽• Merma •Freedive fun🐬🧜‍♀️🧜🏽•

Mermaids en mermen in the making this weekend! So exciting to be below the surface again and see others become enthusiastic and skilled about releasing that inner dolphin with freediving 🧜‍♀️🧜🏽
Momo, Marianna & I organized a freedive discovery day 🐬 in Fuerteventura. Great day! And students! And beautifully led by Momo 🧜🏽💯

Curious to learn about freediving? We plan to do this more often!
If you’re in Lanzarote or Fuerteventura you can join Momo @oceanminded_immersion @marianna_patane And I I for a one day freedive discovery (AIDA 1*) or 3 day more in depth (AIDA 2**) Freedive course. All 3 of us driven by simply connecting people to nature and sharing our experiences, skills and philosophies on this pure way of being with the ocean. Super life and health skills. 💙🌱 Next course: next weekend! Write me or @oceanminded_immersion for details.

Not around? On my website Oceanpreneur.co you can find blogs and resources to get excited and started with freediving. In the @_oceannomads community we also have a sub-group on freediving Ambassadored by Momo where you can ask your freedive questions, find buddies and more resources to learn and explore freediving.

What excites you most about this pure ocean sport? Have you done a course yet?

Plan F ✅ I’ve pushed through with Plan F and Plan F ✅
I’ve pushed through with Plan F and have arrived safe, happy (& negative tested) in Fuerteventura! 🙌💪☀️🍀🚚 Best decision of the year so far😊 Its rough, wild, sandy, salty, and safe 🙃

Over to plan F. New Rules. Laws. Restrictions. Whe Over to plan F. New Rules. Laws. Restrictions. Where to go? North, East, South, or West?
As from today it’s no longer permitted to park outside of a designated camping or private terrain in Portugal with a van or camper. No sleeping in nature. In many places not even parking during the day allowed to go for a surf. To a certain extent I can agree with the new law but the alternatives for those with their tiny house on wheels as their home are not so many. While I’m pretty much self sufficient and don’t need any facility, I don’t mind to chip in for a campsite for peace of mind or to simply respect the rules. A few nights, not months. For me that’s not living. It’s passing the time and wasting my money. Time is precious. And I rather invest my euros into the local markets or street vendors🥑🍊🍞🥳

I have decided, I’m going a step wilder🐒, removing myself from constant changing rules I can’t keep track of. I have to be in my element. Only then I can be my best and contribute to a greater good 💙🌱

Will it be North, East, South, West ? I’ll tell you soon 🙂 So exciting🌱

How are new rules, lockdowns, and regulations giving your life a plot twist? Again…🙊🤪💪
And for those vanlifing in Portugal, what’s your current basecamp / new plotted course? Whatever you do, something good will come out of it! It always does.💪 Hang in there 😘 and stay wild you all! 🐒

Ps. this is me in my pino suit / top winter outfit scored at the second hand market place, infront of my house. My first house. My first car. I’m so grateful for this facility! And suit🔥🍀

So we don’t have to repeat that class. We don’t need the end of the year to reflect but we may as well. Especially this one 🤪. Here are a few thoughts on some lessons learned / insights that surfaced this year and what I’d like to remind myself of for all that’s to come. I wrote it for myself. It helps me to stay sharp and smiling. But I thought I’d share it. Perhaps you can take something away from it.

What’s an insight / lesson learned that stood out for you this year?
Time for an intro! Hello new faces, and familiar o Time for an intro! Hello new faces, and familiar ones! My name is Suzanne and the ocean has my heart. I didn’t grow up near the ocean but over the years I learned to dive, surf, kitesurf, freedive, & sail. My ocean explorations gave me a huge respect for mother ocean and a big 💙 to protect her. My hope is that by exciting and encouraging you for ocean adventure and by showing a little bit of my learnings and way of life, the ocean gets into your 💙.

A few years I lived more at sea than on land. 30.000 Miles I sailed crewing on different sailboats and seas and. Since two years, I’ve gathered the courage to also captain so I can show you what the magic is all about. Thanks to spraining my ankle very badly, twice, the ‘sailboat travel tips’ made into a book called Ocean Nomad.
~
I now live in a little oldschool camper. It’s my 1st car. And 1st house. This wasn’t part of the plan but it turns out the perfect nomad house for me for now. I feel like a princess in a palace, after all those years nomadding with just a bag. It’s a huge luxury to have access to a variety of teas, spices, a few books & a dress for the special moment. Half a year ago I was terrified of parking this camper machine. Now I’m proud to say, I’m fearless behind the wheel.
~
I’m excited about cultivating simple & conscious living. I don’t use a fridge, I explore foraging (what a wisdom!), and walk the extra mile for local produce. I use less than one diesel tank and +/- 90 liters of water each month. My trial, error, and questioning approach has gotten me pretty far so far, and I’m so excited about all there’s still to learn.
~
I quite enjoy being less ruled by the weather while still having the freedom to change when I get itchy. I can now focus more on the surf skills, ayurveda and natural medicine studies, and on increasing the value, impact and income of my two oceanpreneurial ventures:

Nature is the medicine. We all know this (right?). Nature is the medicine. We all know this (right?). But generally, we’ve become so disconnected from nature. Especially on the colder days, we can have a full day without touching nature at all. We live in shoes, houses, cars, offices. Food is sourced without any dirt left from the supermarket. We’re glued to our devices. We’ve lost touch.

Social gatherings and events are off the agenda for now. A perfect time to reinvent ourselves, learn and grow. One thing is for sure and that nothing is for sure. Lots of external factors that we can’t control. What we can control is our thoughts, what information we consume, and to a large degree how we spend our time. Instead of binge-watching away on Netflix, why not invest a little time every day in expanding your natural living skills and knowledge? Health is wealth!

Nothing beats hands-on and experience-based learning in nature. But since that’s in many situations not easy right now, there are ways so at least we keep on growing. There are lots of courses online that now offer their learnings for free or for a very accessible rate. Deepen your connection with nature and learn to live more wild, simple and sustainable. On my blog you find 10 affordable online courses that help to Expand your wilderness, health and natural living skills: www.theOceanpreneur.com/livewithnature-courses (link in bio)

What’s a topic you love to learn more about?

Are there any courses on natural living, herbal medicine, foraging or wilderness survival that you highly recommend?
